The Nigerian Society of Engineers, University of Ibadan branch, inducted 271 new members at the ceremony at the Faculty Lecture Theatre, UI. This notable event commenced at 11 am on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Faculty of Technology.

The induction ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities from both the engineering and academic fields. Prof. Kayode O. Adebowale, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, was the Chief Host. Prof. A. I. Bamgboye, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan, and Engr. Ibraheem F. Bello, Chairman of the NSE Ibadan Branch was also present at this
prestigious event.

Adding to the event’s prestige, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, who chaired the occasion. She urged the newly-inducted members to develop their innovations and not wait for paid employment, and referrals.

The guest speaker, Mr. Ibrahim Aderemi, CEO and Founder of Cardify Africa, shared insights from his extensive experience, highlighting the intersection of engineering and entrepreneurship. He discussed the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and leveraging technology to create impactful solutions. He said, “I japa to UK to make a fortune and I japa-ded to make an impact in my country and the world”.

His speech empowered the new graduates to think beyond conventional boundaries and embrace innovative approaches to their professional endeavours.

He concluded by telling the newly inducted engineer students that the journey is just the beginning and by ensuring problem-solving and consistency at the heart of all their endeavours, challenges can be easily navigated, and they should as well seize every opportunity that comes their way.

He further congratulated them and implored them that they have the potential to excel exceedingly and make a profound impact, especially in the world of technology, as the theoretical aspect has been solved but the practical is the real world, and he welcomed them to a world of reality.
